Rome’s Big Float June 4

Join hundreds of other river lovers for a 6-mile float on the Etowah River from Dixon Landing to Heritage Park in downtown Rome. The trip is for canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, tubes, rafts and anything else that floats your boat. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes, best decorated boats, largest flotilla of tubes and much more. Clear water flowing from Lake Allatoona carries you around historic Thompson Weinman Dam, across Native American fish weirs and past the Etowah Indian Mounds Historic Site where we’ll stop for a tour. Traditionally one of event organizer, Coosa River Basin Initiative's most popular paddles, this trip plots a 17-mile course from US 411 to Grizzard Park in Rome, winding through some of the most remote stretches of the Lower Etowah and providing access to the best of the Etowah’s fish weirs and other historic sites. This clean up is as long as the river is deep (in front of Allatoona Dam!) Join hundreds of other river lovers as we attempt to clean every mile of the Etowah River from Allatoona Dam to Rome.
